"operate" and "selling" do not mean "own".

I imagine that the tickets will be half-price, the tuktuks will be free and all the large groups of Asian tourists doing selfies will disappear. There will also be free LongIslandIceTeas distributed at sunset. ;)

If it meant that the money from Angkor Wat would go to financing the country instead of private investors, this would be good news for Cambodia IMO. Unfortunately, I think it just means that as the pie has grown bigger, so has the appetite.
People in, or connected with, SR tourism probably have more solid info on what this means or could mean.

His name is Sok Kong, he's ethnically Vietnamese, which led to those moronic rumors that Angkor Wat was sold to Vietnam. He first made his fortune in the 1980's dealing in gasoline from Vietnam, I think he had the contract to supply the military.

It wasn't sold to the Vietnamese (as in, Vietnam the country)?

i was led to believe that "He" gave Sokha Hotels Co. Ltd, the ticketing rights for untold $$$$
now it seems "He" sees the $$$ it is making so is taking it back under Khmer ( his) control
