Re: Kampot LED hell!
You don't sound very happy about it, Jack.
They were for the Sea Festival and to a lesser extent NY, they are staying up permanently.
I think they look wonderful and glorious.

Re: Kampot LED hell!
I like all the changes they're making to Kampot, except the ones that means more people, more traffic, more expensive etc.
Not sure how the whole LED experience works into this.

As far as I know, there are just two LED displays in Kampot, a large one at the Durian Roundabout and a new smaller one on the other side of the river across from the Spouting Seahorse or "Singapot". Neither have anything to do with Xmas. If you live in KP, they're hardly noticeable.Happy Jack wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2025 7:47 pm Please tell me this is just x-mass thing and they will take all this crap down?
At the same time though, the other light decorations on the trees and over the streets may be a it over the top but after a while, it seems like they've always been there. I think the buildings going up on the other side of the river are more concerning, as they are beginning to block the view of the sunset and the mountains. Also, the unfinished building at the Old Bridge is still there.
Fortunately, anybody who does not like these changes and developments has the freedom to move on.
Actually, the hottest topic right now for Kampot expats is the Kampot International Port:

I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Re: Kampot LED hell!
Kampot is doing a good job of transitioning from quaint historic river port town to tacky noisy dump.

It could be another Chinese project similar to Sihanoukville.

There is zero chance that any building would block the sunset and mountains, unless you are two feet in front of them, and certainly not from the other side of the river!
