Acts of charity
I went to get my bicycle from a parking lot, and tried to ride it. I quickly found out that after my stroke I couldn't.
Luckily, I was wearing a cycling helmet, which probably saved my life, a nasty bag to the side of my head.
I booked a remorque via Passap, an din the meantime a very nice Khmer lady, who had very good English skills, stopped to help me.
The Passap driver wanted $5 extra if I put the bicycle on, I told him no, I'm cancelling.
He got very abusive, showing me the finger and using the f-word in front of this woman.
She stood her ground and told me to move on, while this animal went off in English and Khmer
There are many good people out there.
Yesterday I thought I was going to have a heart attack, and a young Israeli guy stopped to help me, asked me if I needed water
There are many good people among the ones we generalise about.
Remember that

Re: Acts of charity
Actually, most of us already know that, and many of us also make acts of charity too.

After reading the comments in The Rest Of The World section, I think some need occasional reminders.
Jews, Muslims, migrants, black people, brown people, LGBTQ people, people from certain countries that most of us have never even been to ... pick a thread that focuses on any one group or area and there will probably be several posters going on about how 'they' have XXXX agenda, they all want to YYYY, they're all ZZZZ.

But in fairness, the LGBTQcrowd is largely made up of pretenders, panderers, attention seekers jumping on a bandwagon, overwhelming the few with legitimate issues.Random Dude wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:09 am

I'll have to take your word for that, I have no idea how many LGBTQs are vocal online, vs how many are just quietly trying to live their lives and ignore those who think anyone gay must surely be a pedo groomer.Freightdog wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:20 amBut in fairness, the LGBTQcrowd is largely made up of pretenders, panderers, attention seekers jumping on a bandwagon, overwhelming the few with legitimate issues.Random Dude wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:09 am

I suspect it's not the problem you think it is though.

Yes the 35,000,000 Americans that are gay spend their days ruffling your feathers instead of working.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recogni ... %20couples.
And if the 33,000 gays in Cambodia could stop
pretending, pandering and attention seeking Cambodia would be paradise on earth.
I will be charitable....when was the last time a gay person ruined your day?

Re: Acts of charity
The proportion of homosexual people who have ever been problematic in my personal experience, is (at a guess) at most similar to those heterosexuals who are problematic.
The lgbTQ crowd, on the other hand, (I’ve removed the capitalisation to add emphasis) always seem to have issues that require everyone without exception to be involved in resolving.
From being able to flaunt dress code in a professional workplace, to making individual demands to accommodate their ‘lifestyles’, which most often have little to do with their sexual orientation, and everything to do with wanting to make their chosen orientation a top priority for everyone.
A sort of little Britain episode, but with the humour firmly removed.
In fact, the L, G, and B part of that alphabet soup seems to unfairly include a number of folk in a ‘community’, to bolster the figures so as to artificially validate the demands of a tiny proportion.
