Hero or criminal?

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

murder is murder,
regardless of the reason
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Both. The comments in antisocial media are overwhelmingly positive about the guy. And yeah, this event gets the discussion about a better US health system going again. But you can't just go killing rich people or they will hunt you down.

Obviously a criminal, but if that smirking little shit-bag Kyle Rittenhouse can get away with cold-blooded murder, then, anything is po$$ible in the US of A

Self-defense is quite different from assassination.

No, CEOs of health insurance companies don't get much sympathy.

You're not wrong, murder is murder, and he did it, he killed the guy. In the eyes of the law, he's a murderer, and no doubt he'll do some hard time for it. And he should, because that's the point of the rule of law, individuals don't get to be the judge, jury and executioner. It's not a perfect system but it's better than the alternative.

But fuck that CEO, and fuck the sick, corrupt system he was part of.

Sometimes society needs a Robin Hood-type figure to take a stand. If the government isn't going to rein in corporations when they prey on people like insurance companies do, they shouldn't be shocked when some random guy decides he will do it.

I feel bad for the CEO's wife and kids, but that's where my sympathy ends. The shooter decided he'd take one for the team and try to fix the system. I can respect that, even if I think he threw his life away for nothing. He drew some attention to the problem, and he caused another insurance company to put a hold on a disgraceful policy they had (at least until something else gets the media's attention and they quietly reinstate their policy) but I doubt anything will change. When corporations own governments, they get to do whatever they want.

If his motive was revenge for a family member being fucked over by the insurance company, I can understand that. Who could blame him? But if he thought he was going to change the system, I think the poor guy is going to wish he hadn't bothered. In a month it'll be like it never happened, and he'll be a pretty rich kid in prison doing time for a society that's mostly too apathetic and dumb to care about much more than culture wars and reality TV shows.

Got to love a minor with a weapon crossing a state line for the opportunity to act in self defence.

The CEO's company denies 32% of the claims against them, twice the average of other Health Insurance companies. Corporate murder needs to be prosecuted.

You can be both a hero AND a criminal.

Ridding the planet of assholes is a worthy cause, but I wouldn't be willing to pay the just price for it that he now has coming his way.

No, I generally don't feel sorry for incredibly wealthy assholes.

(I recently voted for an incredibly wealthy asshole.)
