Chinese Nationals Arrested in Sihanoukville Kidnapping Case
[CAMBODIA NEWS] Eight suspects, including six Chinese nationals, were apprehended by Cambodian authorities in Sihanoukville following a kidnapping incident involving illegal firearms.
In a swift operation conducted in the early hours of August 6, 2024, Preah Sihanouk provincial police arrested eight suspects in connection with a kidnapping case in Sihanoukville. The group, comprising six Chinese nationals and two Cambodians, was apprehended following reports of individuals being forcibly taken and placed in a vehicle.
The incident occurred around 12:30 AM near the commercial market intersection in front of the Tong Pi Za Wa Khao restaurant (spelling?) in Sihanoukville. Acting on immediate orders from the Deputy Commissioner General and Provincial Police Commissioner, a specialized task force launched an urgent investigation.
By approximately 2:30 AM, the task force successfully detained the suspects and rescued two victims - a Cambodian woman and a Chinese national. During the operation, authorities confiscated two handguns, two pairs of handcuffs, and other evidence related to the crime.
The Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police are currently conducting further investigations to prepare the case for court proceedings.
