Does Cambodia really need the worlds largest airport?

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Probably doesn't need it, but it sure is cool. I'd assume they're hoping for economic boom to follow it. Also Cambodia do need a story upgrade. The first thing people tend to associate "Cambodia" with is genocide. Would be nice if the story was an awesome high-tech airport instead.

Also, its great to live in a country where they actually build something. Are they still bickering about building a single shoddy runway in Heathrow Airport? JFK Airport in NY looks like shit, so do Atlanta Airport. Is there a single airport in Europe or North America that looks reasonable fine?

I wonder how many people made millions out of Suvarnabhumi Airport? I wonder how many people worked on it for free out of the goodness of their hearts? BTW the link is broken. 💀

That'll be the airport that was years late and turned out not to be big enough so the old airport that was meant to close is still operating (and is actually better to use than the new one).

The route to Abu Dhabi will commence once the new airport opens, with Istanbul likely to follow. Turkish Airlines has already confirmed that Cambodia will be their next new destination in Asia.

Why is a new thread necessary when all of this has already been discussed in the previous one?

I find it very hard to believe Cambodia will be building the worlds largest airport

Largest airports are usually defined as number of passengers, or most daily flights arriving/departing

The trouble is you are always taken up with looking 30-40 years in the past rather than 10-20 years in the future.

A long time resident of Thailand, especially Phuket, shouldn't need to ask questions regarding corruption elsewhere in the region.
