Cambodia News (Kampong Chhnang), 22 November 2022: Recently, an elderly monk named Koy Kong became the sensation of social media, after a shocking video of him was leaked, showing him in a state of advanced intoxication after being stopped by police. The monk came stumbling out of a luxury car looking totally wasted and lit up a cigarette. Upon inspection by police, a pile of ABC beer cans were found on the car floor and there were signs (and smells) of recent vomit in the car.


The other thing about the car that caused outrage is that the drunk monk, who was riding an all tax-free 013 Series car, was being chauffered by a minor from Wat Trapeang Ampil, Prasnip Commune, Rolea Bier District, Kampong Chhnang Province. The youngster was taken into protective custody by police.

The public commenters on Cambodian social media have requested that the director of the Department of Cult of Kampong Chhnang province inspect this incident, and to take immediate action against this disgraceful monk, to prevent other monks from acting like this, which damages the image of Buddhism in Cambodia.
