Siem Reap Police Officer Shoots Himself

Cambodia News (Siem Reap): On 7 October 2022, a 31 year old Siem Reap police officer, Seng Vuthy, was found to have shot himself after having a dispute with his wife. The victim was found dead at his house in Group 8, Thnal Village, Srang Nge Commune, Siem Reap Province.


Authorities said that they received information that there was a suicide at the above address and they went to investigate the scene. The victim was sent immediately to a Siem Reap hospital for treatment, but his state was so serious that he was sent to Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh. Unfortunately he died before he arrived at the hospital, so was taken home.

Authorities learned from Mr. Seng Sam An, the 63-year-old father of the victim, that Seng Vuthy was a fun-loving person with no mental or physical illness. However, lately, the victim began to have frequent arguments with his wife since he started going out drinking regularly with his colleagues.
The father said that he doesn't know if his son had been drinking on the night of 6 October 2022, but at 00:15, he received information from the neighbors that his son had shot himself in the head after an argument with his wife.
