Drug Bust Nets 2 DIY Rifles, But Trafficker Escapes

Cambodia News, (Banteay Meanchey Province): On July 1, 2023,Svay Chek District Police sent 3 suspects to Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police for further procedures after they were arrested for drug trafficking.
Colonel Chea Sloh, Police Inspector of Svay Chek District, said that at 10:30am on June 30, 2023, Svay Chek District Police Inspectorate in cooperation with Thmar Puok District Police Inspectorate cracked down on the trafficking and consumption of illegal drugs at the southern coal kiln, Ponley village, Ponley commune, Phnom Srok district; 3 people were arrested and 1 escaped.

The inspector confirmed that the arrested suspects were:
1. Roeung Rak, male, 27 years old.
2. Tam To, male, 23 years old.
3.Tam Chou, male, 18 years old,
All 3 of them live together in Svay Khmao village, Punley commune, Phnom Srok district.


During the operation, police confiscated 12 small bags of white crystals suspected to be drugs and two homemade firearms.
Colonel Chea Sloh confirmed that after being detained and interrogated, the three men said that the 12 bags of drugs all belonged to the man who had escaped, Ry, a 37-year-old man living in Ponley village.
Authorities are currently searching for the fugitive suspect who will be prosecuted for drug trafficking.
