fingerprints
Here is an odd one for you. Last time I flew out around 2 months back I was going through emigration and after a few minutes of fucking with the fingerprint scanner, the guy called his supervisor over and they were discussing something, no idea what. So the supervisor comes over and asks to look at my hands. So I do and he looks at my fingers and says your skin is too smooth and the scanner can't pick up the ridges properly. Never heard of it but I guess that's what happens after 13 years of retirement, at least for me!
Anyway he spoke excellent English and said next time you enter the country, which will be in a few days, he said to use the diplomatic kiosk because there are no finger prints required. I said that sound great but I am no diplomat so what happens if I am questioned over this. No problem he says. Hmmmm?
Anybody ever encountered this before and should I follow his advice or am I going to get in some sort of shit for trying this? Or do you think (sounds impossible for Cambodia but who knows) that my ID has been flagged for this purpose and they will be expecting it?

Re: fingerprints
You're thinking about it too much, just go to any of the lanes, preferably the one with the shortest line, if that happens to be the Diplomatic lane so be it. You'll be fine.

Re: fingerprints
Could the supervisor be an ex- manucure (also with smooth hands) with an interest for cavity searches ?

Re: fingerprints
I am sure I can use any lane, except the diplomatic one. Why even have one if it doesn't matter? Seems pointless. As for the ex manicurist. I am pretty sure it was genuine puzzlement over why the thing would not pick up my prints (pretty sure!).

Re: fingerprints
I tried to smooth out the ridges on my fingers with a belt sander one time but I was still caught at the border.johnny lightning wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 9:15 pm Here is an odd one for you.
