Foreign Driver in Mercedes Hits Road Divider

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 4:00 a.m. on July 11, 2022, on Preah Monivong Blvd., Sangkat Boeung Rang, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, a Mercedes car, (PNH 2AJ-2388), driven by an unidentified foreigner hit a street divider. According to the eyewitness, the driver was speeding down the street from the south, when he lost control of his car and swerved at the traffic junction and crashed violently into the street divider destroying 2 sections of it.

The Mercedes was badly damaged in the incident. However, no people were hurt in the accident, and the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated, ran away from the scene, leaving his car. The police inspected the site and towed the damaged vehicle away for further investigation.

The driver must use the same insurance provider as the truck drivers here, apparently there’s a specific condition in their insurance policy, stating that “In the event of an accident, failure to scarper from the scene ASAP, will render the policy null and void”
