Warhead of MK82 Plane Weighing Around 230kg Found in Kandal
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On September 13, 2021, CMAC specialists found a warhead of an MK82 plane that is 2m long and which weighed around 230kg. It was buried in the ground 5m deep for over 50 years and still in pristine condition in Prey Las commune, Ponhea Lue district, Kandal province.

Personally wouldn't pose for photos next to the thing but this guy's unfortunately an expert. Hats off the CMAC

A MK82 is not a 'plane', it is an air dropped, unguided, bomb. They are 500lb's / 227kg's

what do they do with these things?
Any dismantling and defusing will still leave the explosive element which may still be viable. What happens to all that stuff?

Well, leaving it where it is has been a ploy used before, to varying degrees of success. 50years old- buried, and pristine are not adjectives that immediately bring comfort to mind in this case.
Get the fusing off.
Once that’s away, it’s a lot more stable. Hopefully, they’ll not be inclined towards smacking the casing it with sledge hammers, but it’ll definitely be more transportable.
Then, they could just store it in a museum in town…
