blood-curdling screams of dogs crying

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. blood-curdling screams of dogs crying

Post by ofparadise »

Every single night, I hear the blood-curdling screams of dogs crying, coming from a construction plot opposite my window. It goes on for hours. Is there any decent organization I can contact? The locals seem to laugh about it and I get the feeling they find my desire to report it, laughable. This is reinforced by the muffled laughs they share whenever I bring it up.

I also have been hearing sounds like this and when I brought up concerns to other expats they were dismissive to say the least. Are you also near Wat Botum park? I've only heard the sounds after moving to this area

Could be a bitch (female dog) on heat getting hit on by all the males. I know that sounds harsh, but blood-curdling screams are exactly what it sounds like when there has been a local bitch on heat in the neighborhood. That would also explain the sniggers ?

Thank you everyone. Well, I found out why... and I'm kinda wishing it was just a bitch in heat.

Managed to uncovered the real reason...

It was not a dog after all.

There is a mentally challenged boy who lives at the construction site. He thinks he's a dog. And sits by the gate howling at passing cars.

So odd....

After seeing him from across the road, I kinda believe it now. Quite sad though. The boy is no more than 10 to 12 years old with a
serious psych condition. And he's just left to his devices. Maybe someone here can reach out to them.

btw, it's the construction plot opposite the old marko. The corner before Angkor Mart at ttp.

-----
I don't know though... something is not sitting right. There's something more... but I'm not going to dwell on it for now. It's in the back of my mind.
