How bargirls survived during covid
Some of you may have wondered how the bargirls survived during the last eighteen months when bars have been officially closed. A number of bars did open very discreetly during this period, but even they were closed during the lockdown periods and when the main bar area became a taped-off ‘orange zone’.
I just did a survey of 25 of my staff, with my Khmer manager asking them the questions. It was done anonymously so they would hopefully tell the truth.
The results are interesting, but with no big surprises. Monthly income ranged from under $200 to well over $1,000 per month. As expected much of their money came from donations from boyfriends and customers both overseas and locally.
Most of them continued to go with customers, sourced both from online and from their existing social media contact lists.
Many of them continued to work in bars when and where they could. A few started micro businesses selling a variety of stuff both online and at markets. A few just stayed at home in the provinces with their families and children.

Interesting.
Many expat TESOL would have earned less than some of the girls.

Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

Never realized that working in a bar in Cambodia paid so well for some
1st table seems many were doing more than 1 listed , ie 31 worked in a bar and went with customers out of 25 girls surveyed.???
whats the dif between a bf overseas and a customer overseas?
both were getting nothing for their $$

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

They are quite on the frontline, contamination-wise.
Did they also survived because of some sanitary precautions, by chance ?

Yes all the girls were doing more than one activity.phuketrichard wrote:Never realized that working in a bar in Cambodia paid so well for some

Boyfriend overseas was someone who considered they had a girlfriend here and supported her. Customer overseas was anybody else that the girls managed to get some money from, usually on a much less regular basis.
I could have combined them but I was interested to see how many girls considered they had a boyfriend overseas as opposed to just some guy they met a few times previously who could be persuaded to help them with some money.
In terms of total amount of income, in pre-covid times the girls were earning much more. The more popular girls would typically get say $200 salary, plus $500 ladydrink commission, plus $200 in tips, and then another $300-600 if they went out with some customers.

In what way? All the girls did more than one of the activities to generate income.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote:The numbers don't add up...

They would stay loyal to the boyfriend of course. Can only have ine boyfriend, but they can have all the customers they possible. At the same time.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 5:14 pm Never realized that working in a bar in Cambodia paid so well for some
