Iranian Man Arrested for Passing Fake US Dollars

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On September 11, 2023, at around 12:20, the Boeung Kak II Administrative Police Force of Tuol Kork Police Inspectorate raided the Golden Residence Hotel and arrested a suspect who was involved in defrauding Wing at Street 614, Sangkat Boeung Kak II, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh, on September 10, 2023.

The arrested man has been identified as PAHANGEH MORTEZA, a male Iranian national with no occupation, temporarily residing at Golden Residence Hotel near the night market, Sangkat Phsar Chas, Khan Daun Penh. The accused is charged with defrauding the above-named branch of Wing in a money transfer of US$500 using counterfeit dollar bills.

After the incident, the authorities returned US$ 500 in legal tender to the victim, with the approval of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court. The suspect is currently being held in custody at the Tuol Kork Police Inspectorate for questioning and further proceedings.
