Traffic Officer Victim of Fatal Hit and Run

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A Deputy Inspector working in Prek Pnov District, Phnom Penh, met with a fatal hit and run accident along Win Win Blvd. in Sangkat Prek Phnov,last night, at 10:30 pm on July 08, 2023.
The deceased was identified as Mr Suon Borith, around 40 years old, a traffic police officer with the role of Deputy Inspector of Khan Prek Pnov, living on National Road 5, Sangkat Kilometer 6, Khan Russey Keo, Phnom Penh.

According to sources at the scene, prior to the incident, the deputy traffic inspector was seen riding a black Honda Dream 125 (license plate. 1-6000 police) from a friend's house near the scene in order to return home. Suddenly, a car of unknown brand drove along the road at high speed, hitting the Dream motorcycle driven by the victim square in the middle, catapulting the victim on to the road where he died instantly. The car driver then accelerated and made his escape from the accident scene, leaving the body lying on the street.

After the incident, the local authorities, in cooperation with traffic experts, came down to inspect and measure the scene, in order to file a report before handing over the body to the family.
