Byron Bay OZ
Byron Bay OZ
Anyone been to the Byron Bay area of OZ? I'm headed there in April for the blues festival and any input on the area would be appreciated. Places to eat, things to see, roads/freeways, beach's, bars/pubs, etc. (already booked a place to stay.) What's this I hear about a town call Nimbun near by, worth a look?
Also, headed to Lithgow (museum), Canberra (War Museum), and then Sydney. Any info or recommendations on places to stay, pubs/bars, things to see. museums, roads/freeways, touristy stuff, etc would be greatly appreciated.

It never hurts to shake-the-trees for answers. Maybe some new blood on the forum from OZ.

Nimbin is a town with a large feral element - creepy people with dreadlocks who smoke pot, and not the cool kind.

Nimbin has been hippy central since the early seventies.
They have an annual Mardigrass (notice that's grass with 2 s'). Next years will be on 2nd and 3rd May.
Peace brother.

Oh, and if you're going to Nimbin, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
You're sure to meet some gentle people there . . .

Being a child of the '60s the street picture looks like a lot of places in America back then, like just off a lot of collage campus's and San Francisco.
