On The Road to South America - Which Way?

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

On The Road to South America - Which Way?

Post by britscienceteacher »

Leaving beautiful Cambodia behind we spent a week in Jakarta, Indonesia. The food there is amazing, various delicious curries (and much more than gravy - very good quality food). Yesterday we landed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (jetlag is still wearing off). Ethiopia Airlines just opened a new route from Jakarta, so it was a good deal - and a very well catered flight - it seemed like an all-you- can-eat (and drink if you do) buffet. Now we need the next step, or rather the final step... getting to South America (the big flight). We were originally thinking of Argentina but have decided to opt for Boliva. Now we are looking into routes. South Africa perhaps? Any experienced fliers who are familiar with possible routes? Very grateful for any informed replies especially on a change in Buenos Aires or Rio. I'm expecting booking the flight from this connection separately (to save a bit, but am unsure if this is even possible without going through arrivals).

Thank you for your advice

Thank you for your first non pseudo intellectual post. It was actually a joy to read it and very interesting.

If only your other 97 posts had been in the same vein. :beer3:

Not sure if it is still the same but last time I was in Ethiopia, you had to get a signed clearance from your hotel that you had paid all of your bills prior to leaving the country. Many people missed their flights because of this strange rule as they had to return and get their "chitty"..

Ethiopia Airlines has a really good flight record, I checked. I also checked the UK travel advice section. We are really risk adverse. We don't go out at night or do anything remotely risky. The food here is really nice and the weather is perfect. Any advice on flights appreciated.

What are your criteria? Price? Time? Any other places you want to see? Fly via Germany for Oktoberfest? Fly Paris-Martinique to take in some of the carribean? You're generally more likely to find cheaper flights through São Paulo than Rio or BA, but BA is lovely whereas São Paulo is a toilet.
You need to provide more info on what you want
up to you...

Can you enter America easily?
Loads of flights to just about everywhere in SA from Miami

Use Kayak.com

British citizens have a visa waiver to the US, but need to apply for this program first to get the waiver.

Bolivia is a poor country.
Araona has some words that have no English translation.
Many people throw their trash on the ground in Bolivia because they have no education.
