Kratie

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Kratie

Post by Lost50 »

Planning to visit Kratie next week, haven't been in about 7 years & always liked the place.

Just wondering if much has changed, things to avoid, suggestions of where to eat/stay, any tips & chat greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

The riverside has been swept, all places which used to open there around sunset have been moved to a spot along the road to Snuol, making Kratie less attractive as it used to be.

The old market went up in flames, a new one has been build.

Nothing else I can thin of.

Stayed at Mekong Dolphin Hotel on the riverfront last year. Nice view. If I remember correctly the breakfast was only so-so: you might want to pursue another option for breakfast.

Was there earlier in the year. Not much has changed excluding what has already been mentioned.

Take the ferry over to Kaoh Trong and go for a walk. Lovely place and also no traffic or rubbish. Screencap taken from Google Street View.
