KTVs
KTVs
So, I've been in this country for 1 year and 3 months now and only went to KTVs on two occasions. One time in Phnom Penh after bit of drinking when I went to the KTV with a motodop, a friend of mine and some kid that worked at the guesthouse where we were staying. We had a drink each when we noticed that there weren't any prices on the menu. So we asked for the bill had an argument about the price and went home.
Second time was in Kampong Cham, when my wife her 16 year old brother and I went out, got fed up with going to the "Gold Club" and tried to find a KTV that's open after 12 o'clock. We went to three different KTVs. One was about to close up, the other two were already closed. That was when her brother told us about this KTV that only charges 10.000 riel per hour. So he lead us to a propper whorehouse. Not that shit that Nok Tang was talking about. An actuall brothel. Don't ask me where he got the idea from that this establishment was a KTV. For shits and gigles we tried to enter the building when the guy told us that we couldn't come here with a woman.
So after these dull accounts of my attempts at going to the KTV, I figgured, that some of you might have better stories. Anyone?

That's even worse than mine! C'mon! Someone's gotta have something good. Is that the one "barang free" zone in Phnom Penh?

Re: KTVs
Haha, I've been in a few. I've tried to like them. I really have. And I always have a good time, but I can't help but think I would have had a better place somewhere else afterwards.
The brothel ones are crap. Numerous times I've psyched myself to go spend a night fucking around in one, and I always end up leaving before I even get seated.
I've also been to a few random ones (take-away brothels) with Cambodian friends, and I've just never been impressed.
I also went to a nicer one in NagaWorld and the Korean buddies I met up with there were loving the place. Cool room, but the chicks that came to entertain us where terrible. Again, they loved it. They were even trying to pay for a girl to leave with me, but I just wasn't interested at all there.
I guess I'm just not a fan of the sketchy ones in general.

Re: KTVs
Ive been to loads, of all shapes and sizes,
the very first day i came to cambodia me and some friends id been traveling with had been drinking all day with some khmer tuk tuk drivers in a local cafe in siem reap, told them we wanted to look for some ladies, they ended up taking me and 3 friends to one of these big KTV establishments, we got seated in a private room and the tuk tuk drivers bartered a deal with the smartly dressed lady, the deal was we got the room for as long as we wanted, a crate of beer (think it was about 24cans) and a pick of a lady for $15 each, we agreed and the lady dissapeered and came back about 5minutes later with a parade of really hot khmer chicks and told us to pick one, we had a big party, but then the girls were demanding $50 to go with them so we passed and left and carried on partying elsewhere.
another time i was out with my then khmer girlfriend and her mate in siem reap, we had a bit of a fallout in the hip hop nightclub, we all ended up leaving and jumped in a tuk tuk, it was late n i just wanted to go home, but she was super revved up and was demanding the driver to take us somewhere, somewhere where he really didnt want to go but she bribed him with $20, took us to some dark village out in the sticks, i jump out this tuk tuk and it was just a row of block garages with tin roofs, i get greeted by some mamasan, i look away to see what the girls were doing, i turn back around and im presented with like 3 young girls, and i mean like they wasnt even 12! all dolled up n shit, this was like 3-4am! im like wtf, then when the mamasan realises im with these 2 girls she quickly hurrys these young girls away and we go in to one of these garages, im still not sure what the fucks going on but turns out its one of these seedy khmer karoke places where the local men go to get their kicks with young girls, was really uncomfortable there espesh when you could hear men giggling and laughing in the other rooms, wanted to burn the place down!
been to loads more normal KTV's since, friends birthday parties, even been to one here in sihanoukville with some of my vietnamese friends and they were just singing viet songs lol

Wow...You sure didn't waste any time did ya!Jacket wrote:So, I've been in this country for 1 year and 3 months now...
Second time was in Kampong Cham, when my wife
But back to the OP, if you go with a decent sized group to a KTV it can be loads of fun and fairly inexpensive, I wouldn't go with just a couple other people though. Oh, and I'd definitely avoid the wooden shack, tin roofed "KTVs".

I've been to a couple of them, sometimes with Cambodian friends. Overpriced and seemed like a 50's sockhop with singing and beer. Really can't see the attraction, although my Cambodian friends had a really good time. (different strokes I guess.)
Re: KTVs
I've heard that some of the high end KTVs in Phnom Penh have really hot girls, but I can never get anyone to name drop any of these "high end KTVs". Anyone know of any?
