Reported theft in Koh Rong - had to leave before getting crime ref - any advice welcome!
Hi all,
My son had his wallet and phone stolen while in Koh Rong on 11/12/17 (KoKo Bar)
He reported this to police in the cabin locally. He was told they would investigate.
My son returned twice to the hut to ask for an update and gain a crime reference or receipt for his insurance.
The police were not around on both occasions and my son had to leave to travel back to the UK.Police had been given my son's contact details at happy Elephant guest House but had not made contact by the time he left.
Travel insurance claim will not be accepted without this reference so I am looking for an email contact for the local police.
Can anybody help please?
Thanks very much.

Hello,
That's very useful -- thank you.
Do you know if we can we do this and pay now my son is back in the UK?
Really appreciate you taking the time to advise

Are you outside of Cambodia? It's unlikely they'd issue anything unless you're physically present. There is no email address.
Should have got a police report in the first visit.
File under things to remember next time it happens.

The only suggestion I can think of is to try Facebook. There is a Sihanoukville Immigration Police page. It doesn't look very used, but you could try to message them.
https://www.facebook.com/pg/sihanoukvil ... e_internal
Or try posting your question on Sihanoukville Expats and Locals, (FB again), they might help. There used to be a Khmer cop who posted there, so if you can contact him, he might be able to help since he reads and writes English.
Or try asking Koh Rong Community - Locals & Expats - they are a helpful bunch.
Last idea, does the British consulate have somebody in Sihanoukville? I know the French do.
Good luck.

I did ask for report/ref etc on first visit but police rushed off to investigate and said they would be in touch via hostel.
Nobody about on my two return trips to the hut/station. Thanks for the advice.

@ OP. Nothing to do with your problem, but was the place where the theft occurred the Coco Bar and Resort ?
If so, they are very unlucky to have dog-eating and wallet-stealing going on all in the same week.
