worlds most dangerous countries for tourist
They place Thailand at # 19 BECAUSE Of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla
where the only tourists that visit these areas are Malaysian Moslems
whose # 1
Columbia;

another report where stats can be very misleadingWe rounded up the 20 most dangerous countries from the report, based on safety and security.
whose # 1
Columbia;
http://www.businessinsider.com/dangerou ... ies-2017-5While Colombia isn't as dangerous as it once was — Medellin was named South America's best destination last year — visiting the country still poses quite a risk for foreign travelers.
BACRIM, armed gangs, are responsible for kidnappings, drug trafficking, and robberies that occur throughout the country, while acts of terrorism, like explosions, are common in many big cities like Bogota.

Yes its all very subjective about what's dangerous. Another thread on this:

But, at all times, in all countries and cities, there are places that should be avoided. Tourists can put themselves in danger because they are not aware of their surroundings. In some US or European cities, walking a block too far can be enough:
And more tourists are killed by road accidents than guns or terror attacks, in Thailand and elsewhere.

Frankly, most of SEA is basically safe if you are not stupid. You want to watch out for areas run by the army, police and armed security forces mostly.A teenager who shot dead two British tourists on holiday in Florida will spend his life in prison after he was convicted of two counts of murder.
A jury in Sarasota took just two hours to decide that Shawn Tyson, 17, killed James Cooper, 25, and James Kouzaris, 24, after they strayed into a rundown area of the city after a night out last April.

That's the reason they give but I suspect Thailand is high on the list for completely different reasons. The kingdom seems to attract a huge number of tourists, and foreigners who stay, and some of them get murdered or involved in shady business themselves. Them's the breaks.

Re: worlds most dangerous countries for tourist
My list:
Congo.(death)
Anywhere too near the Somali border in Kenya, especially in the south..(death)
Mogadishu, Somalia.(death)
Lahore, Pakistan.(kidnapping, death)
Those radical Muslim islands in the South Philippines. (Kidnapping, possible death)
Glasgow schemes.(stabbing, possible death)
I'd go to Columbia at the drop of a hat.
