Meatballs,orange drinks,MSG and acid were among the products that were seized and destroyed.The authorities are trying to raise awareness about the dangers of consuming products that have passed their expiry date.

Bad Meat Among Goods Seized
More than 200kg of old meatballs were seized by the government’s Camcontrol in a crackdown on goods past their use-by dates in Pailin on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Pailin provincial Camcontrol chief San Vicheasaravuth said in addition to the 220kg meatball haul, 61 bottles of orange drink, 50 grams of MSG powder and 17 50ml bottles of acid were seized during routine patrols of the Pailin-area markets near the Thai border on Wednesday.

“We always check the products’ quality in the market once every two or three months to check whether the products are expired, and we do this regularly,” Mr. Vicheasaravuth said, adding that three items in particular were on Camcontrol’s radar during patrols.

“We are looking carefully at three kinds of products such as acid, orange drinks and cups of flavored instant noodles,” he said...
