Sex-broker for underage girls appeals sentence.

The Supreme Court conducted a trial yesterday of a 34-year-old motodop driver who allegedly brokered the sexual services of two under-age Cambodian girls to a Frenchman in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district in 2013.

The accused, Tep Chanbo, also known as Bo, was charged with “the act of selling, buying or exchanging a person with purpose” under article 15 of the Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation, presiding judge Kem Sothavy said.

Mr. Chanbo was arrested on October 21 while allegedly bringing the two girls to have sex with a French national at a guesthouse in Chaktomuk commune, Ms. Sothavy added.

“He was arrested while bringing two girls, who were under-age, to sleep with a foreign man at a guesthouse in exchange for commission from both the girls and the guest,” she said.

“After his arrest, police rescued the two victims from him, but the foreign guest managed to successfully escape,” she added.

Mr. Chanbo was previously convicted by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and sentenced to eight years in prison in 2013, after which he appealed the verdict. The Court of Appeals, however, upheld the judgment in 2014, which Mr. Chanbo appealed again.

Yesterday Mr. Chanbo confessed that in 2013, he brought the girls to have sex with a foreign tourists for a commission of $50 per girl. He added that each girl was set to make $100 to $150 from the tourist...

Wonder how much the French guy paid for his "escape" ? Enough that his name has never been mentioned, despite the fact that guest house should have a copy of his passport. And Mr Chanbo gets 8 years prison, so he obviously hasn't got a bean.
