Crackdown on illegal hair dye outfit to protect consumers.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

In an effort to protect Cambodian good looks, economic crimes police have seized tons of hair dye and hair dye manufacturing machines produced illegally.
Many Cambodians in the public eye rely on good quality hair dye to keep themselves looking young and sharp, so this crackdown will make sure they will not suffer from hair loss, itchy scalp or worse.

They Were Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Tons of packaged hair dye products, raw materials and machines were seized on Wednesday at the Color and Blue Professional Enterprise in Por Senchey district’s Kauk Chambak village nearly one year after the company’s inception, according to police.

Thirty tons of various brands of packaged hair dye, 15 tons of raw materials, five tons of small boxes, seven hair dye manufacturing machines and a number of large boxes were seized in an operation involving the Interior Ministry’s economic crimes police and Health Ministry officials in cooperation with the Phnom Penh Municipal Court deputy prosecutor.

Economic crimes department director Chan Vandoeun told reporters that the company had been running illegally for four reasons, even though during the operation the owner tried to provide documentation.

“There are many kinds of unauthorized hair dye. It is illegal for four aspects. First, imported raw materials are not authorized by the Health Ministry. Second, there is no license from the health and handicraft ministries for producing and packaging. Third, the product packaging does not identify the geographical source inside Cambodia. Fourth, the imported packaging machine is not authorized,” he said.

According to Mr. Vandoeun, the differently branded products falsely state they were produced in Malaysia, South Korea or Japan. The business had been in operation for less than a year and distributed to the main markets in Phnom Penh.

“After the inspection, our joint committee decided to seize the products as evidence to analyze at the Health Ministry and temporarily close the company. We’ll hold the evidence and raw materials until the relevant authorities make a decision,” he added.
