Husband stabbed wife to death with fruit knife after chilies she was chopping got thrown at him

Odarmeanchey: According to Koh Santepheah Daily News, A woman died immediately in a pound of blood after her husband stabbed her with fruit knife. This fatally attack stemmed from an unbelievable reason. The woman was chopping chilies and then it got thrown at her husband. So, he was mad with her. They started having argument. He then throw away the chopping board and grabbed a knife and stabbed her which left her dead immediately at the scene. This event happened around 9:00 pm on 31 October 2015 at Kbal Spean I village, Poi Pet commune, Poi Pet city.

According to victim’s relative, the husband always caused trouble and very envious every time he was drunk. After the attack, he fled and brought a welding knife with him. Police managed to arrest him on 01 November.

A lot of the domestic disputes we hear about in Cambodia seem to involve knives. Quite horrifying when you look at how many reports of domestic violence end in death. Things turn ugly very fast.

Also the alcohol factor is quite alarming. Everyone talks about how meth/ice makes people violent, but most of the cases that we hear about, where someone in the family is killed, involve alcohol. Perhaps it's something they put in the sra saw (sp?). Some types of alcohol seem more inclined to make people violent. People all over the world get drunk, but the result is not the same - not sure if this is down to the type of booze or the drinking culture ? Or both ?

Asians get drunk very quickly .. they can't break down alcohol .. this combined with the violent, bullying Khmer nature means minor disputes often end in a bloodbath .. is that her kid next to her on the floor .. how sad ..

I'm no expert, but, I'd guess that កាំបិត​បុ័ងតោ would be a bread knife or baker's knife.

They could mean "welded Knife" You see quite a few large bladed knives, cleavers etc, that are simply cut and shaped 5mm flat steel welded to a steel tube or bar.
