The drug, Pantoprazol isn't a clue. It's for esophagitis. Basically bad heartburn. Gastric juices flow up into your mouth and damages the pipe in between. A friend of mine uses that shit.

Dodgy place that GH. At night dealers on the street right in front of the place. Lots of Cambodian gambling run by the lady owner. They provide a basis and work spaces for hookers plus some drug users. I stayed there once and saw enough good years of public accommodation. At night people walk in the open yard.

ive stayed there hundreds of times, its where i used to stay before i started renting my own apartment, used to stay there for months on end, the family that run it are very nice,
@pizza lover, the drug dealer/tuk tuk drivers are outside pub street not the guesthouse, lots of cambodian gambling? its 4 girls (family members usually) playing cards all day? its not lots of gambling, its people entertaining themselves
the open yard that has a gate pulled across (albeit not fully enough to squeeze your bike through) and the old father/ex soldier that sleeps out in the courtyard as security?
im guessing you had a bad experience there, which is a shame, theyve always been very good to me,

Jamie dont guess. I do not have a hidden agenda and I am old enough to stand my ground without playing games.

As I said the old lady runs the gambling and - sure - the ladies entertain themselves with money changing hands. Only family members? Nope, when I was there ladies from other places came by.

Drugs. You pretend to correct me on something I did not say. I did state that the dealers are outside on the street approaching the guests at night when walking out of the place. Drugs inside the place? Since you insist: I can smell weed and recognize a junkie. I worked with such people during a past life decades ago. Smoking weed was practiced inside the rooms and one could smell it by walking by even at a distance. The Russian junkie with needle eyes was hopefully a single occurrence. I write only what I positively know and not what looked suspicious.

Hookers? You remain silent on that one. There were at least 5 at the time when I was there. One tried or was soliciting. This was in full view of the old lady who commented and laughed (the money would end up with her anyhow....). So working ladies were tenants.

Gate was always open (right one when coming from the street). One hooker brought her customers back on bikes once the beach bars closed. So incoming and outgoing noise. At least you one could get an idea how long the guys lasted :))

Yup the security guy sleeps a sound sleep.

Indeed, the people were friendly and no problems with the GH as such. My problem was that I did not feel liking ending up in a police raid. That's all. To be sure, the things that turned me off might be strong points for other customers. I am just not one of them.

The gambling, is it the classic game of throwing cards and winning a few 500 KHR or are they hosting a tontine circle?

Sadly the joint is missing from Tripadvisor so it's hard to match reviews against comments made here. All I find is one review on Booking.com, stating that "500m from the beach, very reasonable standard for this price".

Yeah BOFH, its just that game, i play it with the khmer all the time, its no big time underground gambling ring, like PL is making out, apparently because they own a guesthouse theyre not allowed friends to come round to play cards....

ok lets have a look....

Drugs: this is Cambodia, if youre staying in a $10-15 a night establishment, then its highly likely some of the tenants might be into taking drugs/smoking weed, if you dont like it, then go round the corner to one of the $30 a night hotels where it has big signs up saying things like "NO PROSTITUTES", what are you the fun police? are you really offended by someone minding their own business having a quiet joint?

Hookers: are you really trying to make out big momma is now a mamma san? really? No, just no mate! The place doesnt have any policys about bringing guests back, not many places do unless youre staying in a nicer establishment, you get quite a few locals staying their on longer term basis, not every khmer girl is a hooker you know mate... yes i know a couple that have stayed there before, but its not always and not as common as you make out...

either youre really quiet or im really noisy as he would usually wake up and check who it was...

normally i wouldnt nibble so much but ive been staying there for years, 2-4 months at a time, its where i used to live in SHV before i moved out into my own apartment, its just your normal family run cambodian guesthouse, its not a bias opinion as there was a reason why i stayed there for so long

just out of interest when did you stay there? and for how long?
