35 Vietnamese Nationals Deported from Cambodia for Illegal Residence
[CAMBODIA NEWS] Cambodian authorities have deported 35 Vietnamese nationals, including 14 women, through the Bavet International Border Checkpoint in Svay Rieng province. The individuals were expelled for illegal residence and unauthorized work activities in Cambodia.
On January 10, 2024, following directives from senior Ministry of Interior officials, the Immigration Department carried out the deportation of 35 Vietnamese nationals who had been residing and working illegally in Cambodia. The group, which included 14 women, was deported through the Bavet International Border Checkpoint in Svay Rieng province.
The deportees faced various charges, including illegal drug use, unauthorized weapons possession, illegal manufacturing or distribution of weapons, unlawful employment, and lack of proper documentation. The operation was coordinated between the Investigation and Procedure Department of the General Department of Immigration and anti-drug trafficking units from Svay Rieng, Kandal, and Tbong Khmum provinces.
