A young Cambodian girl hung herself, as she was mad with her father blaming her for spending too much time talking phone.

Kandal: A young Cambodian girl decided to end her life as she was mad with her father blaming her for spending too much time talking phone. This event happened around 8:29 on 29 July at Preak Thmey village, Chey Thom commune, Khasach kandal district, Kandal province.
Police said, the young girl name Keng Sreyny, 18 years old, factory worker.

According to the sister of the victim, before this happened, her father called to her sister and he told her sister not to spend much time on talking phone and please taking care your sister. After she finished talking phone when went to cry at the backyard and later she was found hanging herself.

Wow, just wow...
I have a trouble wrapping my head around new like this. A girl gets scolded by her father because she talks too long on the phone and then KILLS herself, because of that. Wow.
I feel sorry for the father/parents.
May she rest in peace nevertheless.

RIP. What is it with kids these days, not just in Cambodia, killing themselves over minor shit like this?

I think Cambodians generally react very badly to any kind of criticism, even minor stuff/ justified stuff.

I remember years ago a sentry shot a general dead because the general castigated him for incorrect dress and relaxing at his post.

It happens so much I'm tempted to think there should be something in the national curriculum about it to stop this.

Jesus... There have been like four such cases in the past few months if my memory serves right. Teenagers are known for being all emotional, but Cambodians take it to the next level. What a waste... Imagine being the father. Not really his fault either, but how can you feel after that? Christ...
