Woman Arrested for Writing $380K Dud Check

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 24 March 2023, the Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court recently ordered the detention of a woman suspect, Phok Srey Leap, and sent her to a temporary detention center pending legal action.
The woman was arrested by officers of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police force, following the complaint of the victim, Nop Leakena, accusing the woman of paying her with a false check for US$380,000 in 2022.
The Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court stated that the accused woman, Phok Srey Leap born in 9 December 1986, was detained at her home in Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh, on charges of "non-performance of obligations on traded instruments" [ie.dud check], under Article 231 of the Law on Securities and Secured Transactions.
