33 Pigs Die in Pig Farm Bonfire

WARNING to animal lovers: This could put you off your roast pork crackling, and, read no further if you were planning a BBQ, or a little piggie on a spit, this weekend.
Cambodia News (Battambang): On 15 March 2023, in the early morning between 4 and 5 am, a fire broke out in Samrong O'Trea village, Battambang province, burning a 40× 20 meter pig farm to the ground.
Even the animals are not safe from eccentric Cambodian electric wiring mthods. In this incident, 33 pigs were killed, including 11 piglets and 5 were seriously injured. Authorities confirmed that the fire outbreak was caused by an explosion in a power line which spread to the animals' enclosure.
The Ek Phnom district police force came to the scene with fire trucks to control the situation and completely extinguish the blaze.
