French Eye Doctors Visit Koh Kong

Cambodia News, (Koh Kong): A team of French doctors from Lafett-MH Association provided free eye treatment for 270 people in Khemarak Phoumin city, Koh Kong, this week. For two days, on March 14 and 15, about 270 mostly elderly people rushed to get their eyes checked and treated.
Putong Eak, a Cambodian citizen living in France, a representative of the medical team, said on the afternoon of March 15, 2023 that Cambodians, especially residents in remote rural areas often face eye health problems, so he and his team decided to provide eye examinations and medical services for people in Koh Kong province for the first time.
Mr Eak said that his team used to provide medical services in Kampot and Takeo provinces, but they recently received a request from Mrs. Mithona Phu Thong, the Koh Kong Provincial Governor, asking them to provide some skilled eye care for the villagers in her province.
In addition to the examinations and preliminary eye treatments from the medical team over the past two days, the team plans to return to Koh Kong with specialized doctors and equipment to perform eye surgery for people at a later time.
