Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 11:00 pm on January 25, 2023, a senior official of the Ministry of Education was arrested for hitting his girlfriend's brother at her house in Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh. The suspect was identified as Chin Narong, a senior official of the Ministry of Education, who was driving a Land Cruiser 470 (PNH 2J-6072).


The victim was Heng Borey, a 39-year-old man, and brother of the suspect's girlfriend. The suspect is still being held in custody, but the authorities have allowed the two parties to come together and in an attempt to settle their conflict outside the court.

UPDATE: $2,000 Compensation and Say No More

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: Authorities in Sen Sok district said that on the afternoon of January 27, Chin Narong, an official working for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, mediated with the victim to withdraw the complaint against him, and in return he agreed to pay US$ 2,000 in compensation to the victim to end the case. The perpetrator was then allowed to return home.

Please be reminded that in the middle of 2022, there was already a scandal involving Mr. Chin Narong from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports,
