Taiwanese Man Busted Smuggling Heroin From Phnom Penh Airport

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On December 6, 2022, police from the 10th office of the Anti-Drug Department sent a Taiwanese man to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on charges related to international trafficking and illegal transportation of drugs.

The suspect is 46-year-old Taiwanese passport holder, Yang Chin Chung.

Following the orders of General Neth Savoeun, National Police Commissioner, on December 3, 2022, "A10" specialized police forces led by Major General Sary Bot Satya and Brigadier General Yim Sen Udom, went to assist the customs authorities at Phnom Penh International Airport to check for irregular passengers.

On inspection, the Cambodian forces found that the Taiwanese man was carrying illiegal drugs from Cambodia to Taipei, Taiwan through Phnom Penh International Airport. Almost 3 kilograms of heroin, (eight separate packets, weighing a total of 2,799.79 grams), were hidden in the suspect's body on the way from Cambodia on an EVAAIR flight to Taipei on 3 December, 2022.

After the arrest, the customs authorities at Phnom Penh International Airport handed over the suspect and the exhibits to the Anti-Drug Department for further questioning and procedures. The Taiwanese man will then appear before Phnom Penh court on charges of the international trafficking of Class A drugs (heroin).
