Man Drowns Trapped in Car, Leaving Bar

Cambodia News (Battambang): A man drove his vehicle into the waters of the Kamping Puoy Reservoir at around 10 pm on 26 September 2022, without anyone noticing anything until the next morning, on 27 September 2022, when someone saw the car floating in the reservoir. According to the Banan District Inspector, the victim was a 28-year-old man named Heng Bandith who was from Chamkar Russey Village, Battambang.
The driver of the car, who was driving a white ISUZU car with license plate Battambang 2G-9989, had just left a bar, where he was drinking with friends, and it is suspected that the victim was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
It appears that the victim left his friends at the bar to return home, and was driving alone along the Kamping Puoy dam, when he oversteered and drove his vehicle into the reservoir. At the same time, according to forensic police, the victim had probably unwittingly locked the car doors, and was trapped inside the car, where he was discovered dead the next day. The body was found when a nearby villager noticed the white roof of a car popping out of the reservoir waters.
Authorities and the victim's family dragged the car out of the water and the body was handed over to the victim's family for funeral ceremony.
