Money Lender Stabbed to Death by Debtor Over $200

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A man died when he was sent to the hospital for treatment after he was stabbed in the chest by a man who could not repay a US$200 debt. This occurred at 10 pm on July 6, 2022 at the Borei Keila community market in Sangkat Veal Vong, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh.
According to local sources, the victim, who loaned the money, was about 40 years old and the perpetrator was over 20 years old. The two men knew each other and lived in the same building.
The same source said that before the incident, the victim went to ask for the money owed to him, but the perpetrator did not have the money, so there was an argument and a fight. The debtor stabbed the victim in the chest, causing serious injuries, and the perpetrator immediately fled the scene.

After the incident, people living nearby contacted the local authorities and ambulances to transport the victim to the hospital to save his life, but unfortunately the victim died of his stab woulds on the way to the hospital.

The local police arrived and checked the situation at the scene and then disappeared. The body of the victim was taken by ambulance to be kept at Wat Teuk Thla, waiting for relatives to prepare for the traditional funeral ceremony.

According to latest details, the murder was a result of an online gambling debt.

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: According to the report, an older man was stabbed twice by a young man, after the victim demanded $ 200 for online games (NET) at 10:40 pm on July 6, 2022, in the street in front of Borei Keila II, located in Sangkat Veal Vong, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh.

The people at the scene said that the assailant named Hong, 18 years old, no occupation, stabbed the victim, Samnang, 43, in the abdomen with a knife, because Samnang had punched him in the face and demanded $200 for online gambling (NET).
The victim died on the way to hospital and police are still tracking the attacker, who ran away after the stabbing.

Authorities Send Borei Keila Killer to Court

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of 26 May 2023, the police force of Khan 7 Makara sent a suspected killer to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for legal proceedings. On 25 May 2023, the specialized force of the Criminal Police Department arrested the suspect named San Chan Kimhong at Trong Moan village, Sangkat Obek Kam, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

The suspect, 22-year-old San Chan Kimhong, had been on the run from police since the evening of 7 July 2022, at around 21:25, when he stabbed the victim, Yeun Samnang, and then escaped after committing the crime. The victim of the attack later died on the way to hospital.

Finally, on May 25, 2023, the specialized force of the Criminal Police Department located San Chan Kimhong and arrested him for murder, according to the arrest warrant dated 15 December 2022, issued by Mr. Hok Pov, Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
The suspect is currently being questioned by prosecutors.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): According to the pre-trial detention order issued by Mr. Hok Pov, the Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, the accused San Chan Kim Hok, male, 22 years old, is charged with "murder" under Article 199 of the Penal Code, after stabbing to death the Deputy Inspector of Khan 7 Makara, because of a $200 debt, on July 7, 2022 in Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh.

The victim of the crime, Yeun Samnang, alias Samnang, a 56-year-old male, was the Deputy Inspector of Police of 7 Makara district. The alleged killer owed money to the deceased. He is currently being held in Prey Sar Prison pending trial.
