Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on July 6, 2022, ordered to bring a three-star ex-military accused to court for questioning in a case of aggravated rape.
Sam Bun Pov, a trial judge at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, said that the accused was Leng Bunsrey, a 57-year-old former three-star military officer.

The accused was charged with five offenses:
1. Domestic violence.
2- Detaining people with malicious intent in order to extort money from his wife.
3. Possession of weapons without permission.
4- Rape of a stepdaughter.
5. Threats to kill.

Defendant was arrested by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Gendarmerie on September 10, 2021 and sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in connection with the above offenses following the victim's complaint.

Ex-Lt Gen jailed for four years for assaulting wife
A former three-star general was sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to four years in prison for assaulting his ex-wife.
Leng Bunsri, 57, who was a lieutenant general with the Ministry of National Defence, was also found guilty of confining his ex-wife and three children inside his house in September last year.


The court ordered Bunsri to pay 60 million riels ($15,000) in damages to his former wife, Sim Lany, 44.
Presiding Judge Nhim Pisal said Bunsri was charged on three counts with “detention and unlawful confinement, violence committed by spouse or partner, unauthorised possession of a weapon” under Articles 253, 222 and 490 of the Criminal Code.

He said Bunsri was arrested on September 8 last year by the military police following a report filed by Lany.

During his hearing on July 28, Bunsri denied the charges, saying he had not beaten or threatened to kill Lany as alleged.

When questioned about the injuries on Lany’s head and back, Bunsri said she had run into the house door.
“I did not beat her. She ran into the house door and injured herself,” Bunsri told the court.

I'm surprised the judge didn't have more mercy on the poor fellow. Hobbling around on a crutch with that "I'm sick" bandage on his head, heart-breaking.
