Cambodia News (Battambang): On 1 July 2022, according to the page of Battambang Provincial Police, a silver vehicle (plate 2A-0087) driven by a 34 year old man named Sok Chan, living in Battambang Province, was stopped for inspection by authorities at the traffic crossing of Boeung Reang Village, Kamrieng District, Battambang Province, at around 12:00pm.

The Kamrieng district police, led by Lieutenant Colonel We Kimchat, said the truck was stopped following a tip-off. They discovered the truck was loaded with more than 2,000 kilograms of defective meatballs from Thailand.
The district police have sent both the owner of the truck and the meatballs to the specialized office at the commission to undergo further legal procedures.

It's not even a refrigerated truck. Got to wonder why the Thais dump spoiled meat into Cambodia? Sales of hot dogs and sausages are going to be off a while.

Just a theory. Maybe it's not for human consumption. Maybe it's meant for pig or crocodile feed. Why distory or buried good protein when you can turn it into animal feed. We are a very wasteful society In the west/1st world countries. Lots of food in 1st world countries are thrown out because it is past it's "best before" date. It is still perfectly edible.

As stated by a previous poster, the truck is not refrigerated. Combine that with the hot temperature, to the best of my knowledge, I don't know if there are any chemicals or process that can turn rotten/spoiled meat edible for human consumption. Maybe not everybody but a high % will get ill and possibly die from the "treated" meat. 2000 kg is a lot of meat.

You may be right. Look at the shit that the Chinese do to "doctor" their food supply to make a quick buck. KoW is starting to turn into Little China.

You started me thinking. WTF are we really eating when eating on the streets or anywhere in general.

That's correct and technically you'd be better off in the long run eating it rotten than ingesting those chemicals.

I doubt the Thai seller sees it as dumping spoiled meat into Cambodia. My guess is he had a load of bad meat he was going to lose money on and was just happy to find someone willing to buy it, no doubt at a very cheap price but still better than dumping it. He wouldn't have cared what happens to it after that - not his problem.

This has been going on for many years:

Provincial health department director Voeun Bunreth said eating spoiled food will pose a serious impact on the health of the consumers.
