Phnom Penh Tuktuk Driver Victim of Hit and Run

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 19 June 2022, at 10:50 pm along National Road 2 in Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh, a tuktuk driver, who was returning from transporting tourists from Phnom Penh to Saang district, was victim of a traffic accident when an unmarked car drove into the back of his tuktuk, smashing it into a tree.

According to an eyewitness at the scene, the tricycle driver was seen driving at medium speed, when suddenly a car arrived from behind at high speed, hitting the tuktuk with full force. The tuktuk was rammed into a roadside tree, causing the driver to break his leg, and become seriously injured. The car then fled the scene without stopping to check the victim.

Local authorities in cooperation with traffic experts, arrived and inspected the accident scene. The victim has filed a complaint with police, requesting that security cameras be checked to find the perpetrator of the accident, and that he or she be brought to justice according to the law.
