Khmer Thieves go to court for Violent Bag Snatch and Assault

Authorities send 3 suspects to court in connection with backpack seizure case

Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: According to the National Police General Commission, on June 17, 2022, the Phnom Penh Municipal Police sent three suspects to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in connection with a case of aggravated assault (abrupt seizure of a backpack, causing the victim to fall from his motorcycle and be injured).

According to the police, the first suspect, Pov Tara, alias Chruy, male, 27 years old, Khmer nationality, false occupation, false residence, was arrested on June 15, 2022 at the intersection of Street 186 Sangkat Toek Laak 3, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh. The suspect committed an aggravated theft due to violence in front of 12DA, Street 192, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh, on June 14, 2022 at 9:15am.

The second suspect is Kong Kosal, male, 17 years old, Khmer, Occupation: Student, living in a house with no number on Concrete Road, Trapeang Chhouk Village, Sangkat Teuk Thla, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.
He was arrested in Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh on June 15, 2022 at 15:30 in connection with the crime of aggravated theft due to violence in front of Ankare Car Care Center, 267, Street 2002, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, on June 15, 2022 at 15:20.

The victim is a 24 years old Khmer woman, from Kien Svay District, Kandal Province. Occupation: Salesperson. Lost property: One backpack, including 1 Khmer identity card, Chang Sakura, 1 ABA bank card and about 400,000 Riels (forty thousand Riels).
