14Yo Girl Dies of Smoke in House Fire

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 7:40 am on May 23, 2022, at a rental building in Sansom Kosal 4 village, Sangkat Boeung Tompun 1, Khan Mean Chey, Phnom Penh, a 14-year-old girl, Chey Langsim apparently suffocated to death due to the toxic smoke from a burning mattress in a housefire.
According to the victim's parents, they were on the ground floor preparing food to sell on the street, leaving the victim alone in the rented room. Moments later, the neighbors saw thick smoke come out of the room and helped put the fire out with extinguishers. The neighbors tried to save the young girl, and attempted to resuscitate her before the ambulance arrived, but without results.
So unfortunately the ambulance doctor announced that the girl had died from asphyxiation caused by the smoke from the burning mattress, and the police conducted a post mortem examination before allowing the family to collect the body for the funeral.
