Cambodia News (Preah Sihanouk): On 20 May 2022, a shocking incident happened at a construction site in Sihanoukville when a cable holding a towing lift broke, causing three workers to die immediately on the spot and another later at the hospital. One of the victims who survived is being treated at the hospital, while the bodies of the deceased are being kept at the morgue of the Sihanoukville Provincial Hospital.

According to the Sihanoukville Police Inspectorate, the towing lift fell from the 15th floor of the construction site at 8:30am which was located on Sete Road, Group 11, Village 2, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.

The four workers who died were: 53 year-old guard, Vor, from Village 3, Sangkat 3; 33 years old Nou Sinuon, from Village 3, Sangkat 3; 36 years old, Ran Phas, from Kork Mon Village, Kork Mon Commune, Banteay Ampil District, Oddar Meanchey Province; and 38 years old Soy Malis, from Prey Phkam Village, Prey Phkam Commune, Angkor Borey District, Takeo Province.

I thought the same, fifteen floors supported by those column, and the concrete work is shockingly bad, it’s surprising it was only the hoist that came crashing down.
How many of these new constructions are ticking time bombs?
