Two Police Officers Arrested for Extorting Chili Sauce Trader

Cambodia News; (Phnom Penh): Mr. Horm Mengse, Deputy Chief of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, decided to detain two police officers working in the Anti-Counterfeit Products Commission of the Ministry of Interior, following accusations of corruption and extortion.

The two police officers were indicted by Heng Pheng, Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court; who charged the officers with extorting $ 50,000 from a business owner who owns a chili sauce factory.

The suspects, Kong Vannak, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel, and Ou Bunthoeun, also with the rank of lieutenant colonel, both work for the Anti-Counterfeiting Commission of the Ministry of Interior.
The first suspect, Kong Vannak, was charged under Articles 592 and 593 of the Penal Code. The second suspect, Ou Bunthoeun, was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime under Articles 29, 592 and 593 of the Penal Code.

The brand name of the chili sauce in this case has not been revealed to the public.
