Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On September 21, 2021, the Quick Reaction Team of the General Commission of the National Police reviewed some information posted on social media on March 4, 2021, which read, “A 15-year-old girl named Oun Sok Chi Ask Samdech Techo HE, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, to save her from China, as she was cheated by the broker and is living in misery.*" This information was reposted and shared on social media.

After receiving this information, an expert officer of the Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Minors investigated the complaint of Duch Im, a 52-year-old female resident of O'Kleng Por Village, Preah Vihear Province. The case was successfully investigated by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Chinese authorities to rescue On Sok Chi on March 11, 2021.

However, during the rescue operation, the girl was 5 months pregnant, so according to Chinese procedures, she could not be sent back to Cambodia, but must wait for the delivery of the baby. She returned to stay with her Chinese husband, with Chinese police dealing with the woman's illegal stay and arranging a visa for her to stay legally. The victim is currently living in China safely.

His Excellency Lt. Gen. Chiv Phally, Director of the Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Minors, said that the department will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Chinese authorities to facilitate the return of the victim, On Sok Chi, to Cambodia.

Meanwhile, the Department of Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Minors in cooperation with the Preah Vihear Provincial Police Commission, investigated and arrested 2 brokers:
1. Name: Kheng Hon, Female, 52 years old, Nationality: Khmer, Occupation: Worker Living in Kraing Dong village, Preah Khleang commune, Treng Meanchey district, Preah Vihear province.
2. Name: Voeung Phorn, Female, 41 years old, Ethnicity: Khmer, Occupation: Worker, Residence: Kraing Dong Village, Preah Khleang Commune, Treng Meanchey District, Preah Vihear Province.
They were remanded in custody by the investigating judge of the provincial court.

* CEO News Edit - sorry, bad translation from Cambodian fb page. ie. The girl did not cheat the broker, but was cheated BY the broker (who sent her to China).

Wait what... Who is the Chinese husband and how is he related to her being trafficked in the first place?

Did they just kidnap a minor but get to "keep her" because they made her pregnant? Or did she meet a husband while in captivity that never realized her situation and is to be considered innocent?

I don't get it

But at least she doesn't have to worry about overstaying her visa 🙄

So there was no need for the girl to reach out on social media on March 4, 2021 and ask Samdech Techo HE, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, to save her from China, as she cheated the broker and is living in misery?

I think so too. Either that or it's just another one of those situations like atsd described so succinctly. :?

Interesting story indeed. Starting with trafficked, then cheated the broker, then begged to be saved, and then staying back with the Chinese husband for the time being.

What social media she posted her plead to be saved? FB is not available inside China. Is she looking for free air lift back home, as air ticket price is sky high during this pandemic? :BangHead:

The comments on here mocking the trafficked girl "at least she doesn't have to worry about overstaying her visa" "maybe she just got homesick" "is she looking for free airlift back home" are truly disgusting.

She is 15. I assume that is in Cambodian years, perhaps making her 14 in Western years. She undoubtedly grew up in terrible poverty. She was trafficked to China under false pretenses when she was . . . 14? 13? 12? and married off to a Chinese man. Even she new she'd had to marry a Chinese man she was too young to consent to that and due to her poverty probably had little choice. Now she is pregnant and has to go back to her Chinese husband she was trying to escape because what other choice does she have.

All you guys can do is make fun of her and accuse her of lying or being after a free flight ticket. It's sickening.
