7 die in search for 3,000

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

7 die in search for 3,000

3,000 riel that is.

The incident occurred in Banteay Srei district when a man accidentally dropped 3,000 riel (0.75 U.S. dollars) into the well and he got down to the well's bottom to take the money back and lapsed into a coma in the well - See more at: http://www.thecambodiaherald.com/cambod ... qphGw.dpuf

Should have lowered a candle down the well first.

Could have been CO2 or H2S as well.

In Kenya years ago, a woman dropped a mobile phone down a toilet (maybe that's why they're called drop toilets).

Anyway, she got this poor guy to go down and try and retrieve it for cash, he drowned/died, then a second guy went down, he also died, finally the police stopped the recovery effort.

I myself went into the Sabi River in Zimbabwe to recover keys for a locked Mercedes Benz dropped by mistake from Birchenough Bridge. In retrospect, not smart, considering the presence of crocodiles.

Trees in the vicinity of the welll most likely used up the oxygen.
But on a serious note, 3,000 riels, seriously? Seven people dead. Amazing. RIP.

That's very sad and tragic.

Avoidable IMO.

RIP.
