On the morning of Tuesday May 27, Phnom Penh municipal court judge Mr. Oum Tha Voreak started the trial of the man accused of attempting to cut the throat of his wife by sharp knife because he felt intense jealousy and was angry at his wife for refusal of sex with him.
The violence occurred on December, 2013 in a rental house at Toul Sangke Village, Toul Sangkel Commune, Russei Keo District.
Mr. Oum Tha Voreak, Phnom Penh municipal court judge, said that the man accuse of the above is named Sok Sovannaton, male 44 years old and that the wife, victim of the original complaint is named Chhun Sopheap, 33 year old mother of 4 children with [previous] ex-husband.
According to Mr. Oum Tha Voreak, accused Sok Sovannaron was arrested on December 18, 2013.
During the hearing the accused, Sok Sovannaron, admitted his mistake, but he said the reason he attempted to cut her throat was because of his intense jealouy, his wife wanting a divorce, and her refusal to have sex with him for several months.
The verdict of the trial will be annouced on june 4, 2014
