Almost Half a Ton of Drugs Seized by Navy

Cambodia News, (Sihanoukville): On 6 February 2021, the members of a Royal Navy patrol seized 465 packages of drugs wrapped as Chinese tea, weighing over 400 kilograms, that they found off the island of Koh Polowai in Cambodian waters offshore from Sihanoukville.



His Excellency Admiral Tea Sokha, Deputy Commander of the Navy and Commander of the Front Line Command of the National Committee for Maritime Security, informed PNN that all the drugs have now been brought to Maritime Security offices. On the morning of February 7, 2021, the relevant competent authorities began the technical inspection.

The source item says that the drug seized is KETAMINE, however, the traditional chinese tea packaging is consistent with South East Asian methamphetamine drug trafficking practices. We are waiting for confirmation that this is correct.

The joint authorities have not yet investigated the source of the drug and are continuing to count the official number to proceed with legal proceedings. More details to come.

Great drug when used properly. Horrible potential for misuse and abuse.

One has to wonder what eventually happens to the drugs. We like to think it get burned or somehow diluted, but with a street value that barely trails precious metals, the temptation to slip a few bags out of the facility to sell must be extreme. I'm not up to date on the price of various drugs or law enforcement salaries, but I'd imagine the sale of a few packets could earn someone who's struggling enough to pay a lot of bills or achieve some life goals.

It does get incinerated. Most of it. The rest slips out of the facility and facilitates much needed cash into the pockets of poorly paid law enforcement dudes to pay bills and achieve life goals, such as driving a Lexus. Plus they can enjoy being loaded on that stuff.

Obviously to us, smuggling literally tons of ketamine and of methamphetamine in Chinese tea packets isn't working anymore. Why not hide this half ton of ketamine in that 6.5 tons of Vietnamese Chemical Shrimps?
