I don't know but I would think it's on the ugly side of 5 years, maybe up to 10.

Known to his friends as Matty, hadn't seen him in PP for years did wonder where he'd gone. He's a good lad (top bloke?), but a complete nutter when under the influence. Sad to hear about this anyway.

Nice guy. Met him many times.

But we all could guess were the money for his Range rover came from.

It all depends on how MDMA is viewed but the Belgian guy got life for 1kg of Cocaine som 260gram of MDMA could be a lengthy one.

interesting, the savvy drug dealer knows not to draw attention to themselves, being a distinctive looking westerner with no obvious source of income driving around Kampot in a range rover is not savvy

I'm also intrigued why his care package from Britain contained peanut butter and some quick cook noodles, both available here, probably a red flag to the post service

i bet the coppers who tipped off the local drug police are having a right laugh at this guy right now.
my guess would be the package got sussed whilst going through the system... they let it through and tipped off the guys at the other end as to its contents and let nature take its course. The sender back home is probably getting his collar felt too.

These guys sort of amaze me. I'd been round the block a few times before I arrived here at a similar age to him way back. It seemed like a no-brainer to me that although things seem lax you could get into a serious mess by dealing in narcotics here. I was always freaked by the implications so kept well clean. The sentences for dealing in SE-Asia are very harsh. In Indonesia you could be executed, in other countries you will get a life sentence. I've heard of wildly different outcomes in trials here but what "Matty" got caught with is an easy 20 years. How it works out in the long-term depends on how good your relationship with your lawyer is. Narcotics dealers don't generally benefit from the birthday amnesties. The real issue is what a total fucking shithole you are going to be in. Sure you can pay for better conditions but you will at first be stuck in a room with perhaps three times the number of people that can physically fit. These are not the greatest crowd you'll ever meet. Some of them are muggers, extortionists and murderers, and I'm just talking about the staff. A whole lot are infected with Scabies, Tuberculosis and the whole range of Hepatitis. Besides the common diseases and parasites that are rife in these correctional centers. Sure, you could survive it but what is the point in taking risks like that? Do people just get dizzy when the money keeps rolling in and imagine they are untouchable? Beats me but it seems very fucking dumb for a foreigner to even try dumb shit like this. 8)
