Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On May 24, 2020, the CPU team, and the Department of Human Trafficking and Minor Protection, collaborated with the local police to inspect bars and restaurants in a search for minor workers, in Sangkat Wat Phnom, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
Image
The purpose of the visits is to remind the bar and restaurant owners that according to Cambodia law, staff under 18 years old are not permitted to work in a bar. After the inspection of more than 40 places, the police and the CPU team concluded that they had found no illegal acts, because the owners of those bars supported the principal of the law.

However, the CPU team and police plan to continue the inspection of all the bars to make sure that none of them are employing minors.

I wouldn't want the job. I'm curious about it and more than starter info. only Aussie police? why is that?

Sensationalist bullshit.
Actual CPU statement
"Child Protection Unit - The CPU in cooperation with the Cambodian National Police has spread to more than 40 bars and cafes in Phnom Penh. The goal of this promotion is to remind bar owners about the laws in Cambodia in relation to recruiting underage staff at the bar. Cambodia has strict laws against the trafficking of minors, and amid the economic hardships caused by the COVID-19, we believe it is a good time to promote this and to remind of the consequences if there is a breach. Cambodian National Police and CPUs will continue to conduct bar checks to ensure that no trafficking of minors is possible. All the bars we visited supported our principles and were not illegal."

regardless of any cynical angles on this, which may well be true

this is exactly the kind of low-effort operation they should be running regularly

checking the bars, with personnel that are clearly unlikely to accept bribes
and publicizing that it's happening

well done
Yeah, I agree. Whether or not the association is looking for donor support, it can't be a bad thing to alert bar owners that people are out there checking on underage workers.
