Cambodia News (Svay Rieng): The police surrounded Jivin Casino and Hotel in Bavet city, which was suspected of online gambling, and detained more than 100 people. Two men, Chinese and Indonesian, were sent to the Royal Gendarmerie for further questioning after the raid.

The raid took place over three nights from May 21 to May 24, 2020, and was led by prosecutor Mr. Cheiv Echkong, and Mr. Lim Siengheng, the Bavet governor, who ordered the Royal Gendarmerie to surround the hotel and casino. The police suspected that there was online gambling at that hotel and casino, and according to the order of the governor, all casinos should be closed against the Covid-19 at this time.

Mr. Kham Sophary, the prosecutor, reported that more than 100 Chinese people were detained in the police raid. However, after questioning, the police found that many were victims, so the police let them go home, released on temporary bail.
Two suspects, a Chinese and an Indonesian national, were retained for questioning and case preparation.
